Sirens

At the time, this was the LARGEST sculpture that I ever made.   It’s about 4' x 6' and weights close to 300 pounds!  It’s not fun to move.  Originally, I had wanted to recreate the door from “Dante’s Inferno”, but the size and weight would’ve turned out preposterous.

A few years ago, I thought of leaving the NJ/NY area behind and moving to the sunny shores of Key West.  I wanted to do an “island” sculpture.  I love the old sailor myths, so I thought I’d do a sculpture of the Sirens.  Starting with the already cast central figure as the guide, I had a different model lay down on opposite sides and worked from there.  I think the starfish and shells added nicely to the nautical effect.
