Scar Tissue

scartissue.jpg (21595 bytes)

This sculpture was the original cast I did for my "Fame" piece, but the alginate set before I had a chance to finish and I ended up with this mutated "monster" version.

The flowing shroud covers the disfigurement, because this lovely model could never be a monster.  It seems to be more like a shroud of mourning...  for what we do not know.

The title is from a song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.  Many of our scars in life are visible, but most are the emotional scars we carry that nobody ever sees.

After my motorcycle accident, I can tell you a lot about both.

C'est la vie.

"Our scars remind us, that the past is real;  I tear myself open, just to feel."
