Mirrored Shades

(Illusion of Reality)

This illustration started out as a painting.
Back in the 70's, I thought I was so kewl with my mirrored shades.  One night at a party, I met Lisa.  She told me she hated my glasses because she couldn't see my eyes. I used that idea for my self-portrait  I thought the self-portrait was symbolic because Lisa wasn't with me in the painting, but merely a reflection in my eyes.  She was an "illusion of reality".

When I studied Pictorial Illustration in college, I decided to use that theme again.  The second time around, I used photos of Karen as the mirrored reflection.
