The Ecstasy of St. Eva

I thought I’d create another “3-D painting” to finish off my sculpture of Eva. The background painting is a very modified version of Raphael’s “Transfiguration” and the gold-gilded vaulted frame with the Fleur-de-Lis adds a quasi-mystical touch.  

The history of the Fleur-de-Lis stretches back in into the mists of antiquity where a lily was said to have sprung from the tears shed by Eve as she left Eden. Another explanation says the shape was developed from the symbol of the Holy Ghost as the image of a dove ascending.
