"Praying Hands" Memorial

praying_hands.jpg (124773 bytes)

My father was killed in a car accident a few months ago by a kid who was texting while driving.  Mom decided to plant a Japanese maple tree at the church in his memory, but I wanted to add a little more. Using my nephew John as the model, I made this cold-cast brass sculpture to set under the tree. This was my first attempt casting with a cold-cast metal, but I think it turned out well. I didn't buff the base as much and I like the difference in the way the finish looks. Almost like marble-veining. I'll finish it off with a brass plaque that I'm have engraved.
