I love this sculpture as a representation of “woman”.  This was my first belly cast.

The reviewer from N.Y. Art once referred to my work as having “uncanny insight into the human condition as it affects woman’s life style”.  Over the years, I realized that description was sweet, but flawed.   In our “youth oriented society”, all I was doing was reinforcing the stereotype that you had to be young and perfect to be beautiful.  I knew I needed to broaden my vision of the beauty of woman.

When I received a call from a gentleman asking if I could do a cast of his wife, he told me, “She is 8 months pregnant and more beautiful than ever”.  What a wonderful sentiment.   I was more than happy to create this cast for them - the beauty of motherhood.
