| With her robe hanging open,
and her hands clasped in prayer, this sculpture speaks of melding of sensual and spiritual
pleasure as "the transverberation" becomes a point of contact between earth and
heaven, between matter and spirit. This depicts an episode of lust fulfilled, aimed to
express the facial and bodily equivalents of a state of divine joy.
It reminds me of the pseudo-sexual religious
exploration found in the "Sisters of Mercy".
I've used the repeating hands, as a symbol of a halo,
offering the benediction.
