"Lazarus, come forth!" And he that was dead came forth, bound in graveclothes; and his
face was bound about with a napkin. "I am the
ressurection, and the life; he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he
live." St. John tells the story of
Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead.
This sculpture was also raised from the dead. It
was originally to be used as the crucified figure in my "Reach out and Touch Faith" sculpture, but I
ran into problems with casting the torso and arms. Rather than just tossing it
out, it was re-born in this fashion, much the same as "Scar Tissue" was created when I had miscast "Fame".
